Amy Lerner, Ph.D.

Academic Director

Dr. Lerner is an Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering, with fifteen years experience in BME design education, and prior industry experience in space suit design. Her research interest in orthopaedic biomechanics emphasizes the use of robust design methods to optimize computational models to understand risks for osteoarthritis.

Spencer Rosero, M.D.

Clinical Director

Dr. Rosero is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Rochester Medical Center where he serves as Director of the Arrhythmias Clinic. As a specialist in heart rhythm disorders, Dr. Rosero treats patients using a wide range of therapeutic options including radiofrequency ablation of abnormal rhythms, implantation of electronic medical devices such as pacemakers, defibrilllators (ICD’s), and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices.  Dr. Rosero’s team was the first in the nation to implant the St. Jude Heart Pod device.  He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Efferent Labs — one of the winners of the largest business competion in the northeast — 43 North.

Greg Gdowski, Ph.D.

Executive Director

Dr. Gdowski is an Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering. He most recently worked for Blue Highway, Inc., where he helped to foster academic and industrial partnerships. He also managed the R&D team that delivered multiple products, services, and tools to Welch Allyn. Prior to Blue Highway, he served as a faculty member for ten years in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rochester.
