Joan E. Adamo, Ph.D.

Associate Director for Regulatory Support Services at the University of Rochester

Dr. Joan E. Adamo is the Associate Director for Regulatory Support Services at the University of Rochester and is located in the Clinical and Translational Science Institute.  She also has a Secondary Faculty Appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.  She provides advice and guidance on clinical and basic research projects and serves as an FDA liaison for University investigators working on Sponsored and Sponsor-Investigator clinical studies. This includes supporting researchers in IDE- and IND-governed clinical studies and managing a framework for preclinical GLP compliance within the University. Prior to joining the University of Rochester, Dr. Adamo served as a researcher and regulator at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research in the U.S. at the FDA.

John Boger, Esq.

Partner at Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C.

John is a Partner at Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C.  He graduated cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law.  John also received cum laude, a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Syracuse University and a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Utah.  Previous to joining Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C., he was Senior Counsel at Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan, Inc.  Prior to attending law school, John worked for 8 years at DePuy, Inc. as a product development engineer and product manager specializing in orthopaedic implant design.  He also worked for DePuy–DuPont Orthopaedics, Inc. as the venture project manager, focusing on the development of advanced implantable biomaterials.  John is admitted to practice in New York and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  John is a member of the Board of Directors at MedTech.  He is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, Eastern New York Intellectual Property Law Association, the Orthopaedic Research Society and Saratoga County Bar Association.

John is associated with the Albany and Rochester Offices of Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C.

Greg Gdowski, Ph.D.

Executive Director

 

Dr. Gdowski is an Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering. He most recently worked for Blue Highway, Inc., where he helped to foster academic and industrial partnerships. He also managed the R&D team that delivered multiple products, services, and tools to Welch Allyn. Prior to Blue Highway, he served as a faculty member for ten years in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rochester.

Amy Lerner, Ph.D.

Academic Director

Dr. Lerner is an Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering, with fifteen years experience in BME design education, and prior industry experience in space suit design. Her research interest in orthopaedic biomechanics emphasizes the use of robust design methods to optimize computational models to understand risks for osteoarthritis.
