The CMTI students will have the opportunity to speak with Amy Castronova of Novatek Communications about the challenges of being a young entrepreneur

 

Biosketch: Amy Castronova combines the thoughtfulness and precision of an engineer with the personality and energy of a natural-born leader. As President and CEO of Novatek, her professional and leadership skills have been challenged and awarded with many honors.   Amy purchased Novatek at the young age of 20 and balanced a Rochester-based team while completing the last two years of her B.S. degree in Interdisciplinary Engineering and Management at Clarkson University.

In recent years, Amy has been awarded Rochester Business Person of the Year, finalist for Technology Woman of the Year, and Rising Star of the Women Presidents Organization, an organization for women presidents of multimillion-dollar companies across the US and Canada.  She was also awarded the Young Entrepreneur Champion of the Year, at the district, state, and regional level by the U.S Small Business Administration. Amy was invited to the White House to be recognized as one of the top 100 companies run by young entrepreneurs age 30 or younger who impact our economy, where she gave a brief speech on the importance of entrepreneurship. 

Amy is passionate about STEM education, leadership, and entrepreneurship. She serves on the Board of Trustees at Clarkson University and board of the WNY Entrepreneurs Organization. She actively participates in industry organizations such as, MedTech Association, MedSource Coalition, and Rochester’s Society of Technical Communication. In addition, Amy teaches aspiring student entrepreneurs through the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, dedicates time to coach local entrepreneurs, and conducts a leadership course for the Young Women of Distinction to prepare Rochester’s brightest high school graduates for successful careers.
